Dr. Lamar
Hardy
DO, FAAD, FCAP · Triple Board-Certified Dermatologist
A Chapin native and Navy-trained specialist who served as Chair, Department of Dermatology at Naval Medical Center San Diego before returning home to the Midlands, bringing Navy-grade training to the community that raised him.
From the Midlands to the Navy, and Back Again
Dr. Hardy earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, then accepted his commission in the United States Navy. He served nearly a decade as a Naval aviator before returning to school to study medicine, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. From there, his path led through Naval Medical Center San Diego and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and ultimately to the role of Chair, Department of Dermatology at NMCSD, one of the most demanding posts in military medicine.
Those institutions train physicians for environments where the margin for error is zero and the standard of care is set by the nation's most critical medical demands.
Triple board certification in Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Mohs Micrographic Surgery is exceptionally rare, requiring sustained mastery across three distinct disciplines. It means Dr. Hardy not only treats skin disease, but interprets the pathology behind it and performs the most advanced surgical techniques to address it.
Now he's home. Collo Rosso Dermatology represents his conviction that the Midlands deserves the same tier of care that served the United States Armed Forces, delivered with the warmth of someone who knows this community, because he grew up in it.

This closed-loop approach delivers cure rates of 98% to 99% for primary tumors, the highest of any skin cancer treatment modality available, with maximum tissue preservation.

Military medicine demands two things simultaneously: absolute technical excellence and unwavering patient focus. You operate in high-stakes environments where there is no margin for error, but the patient in front of you is still a person, often someone's family member, someone under enormous stress.
That dual demand forged Dr. Hardy's approach to practice. He brings the precision of an advanced-trained Mohs surgeon and the thoroughness of a dermatopathologist to every appointment, with the care of someone who has taken an oath to serve.
At Collo Rosso, every patient is seen completely. Not rushed. Not algorithmically managed. Seen.
